![]() ![]() Progression felt slow, combat felt slow, trading gear between four characters felt slow. I had the problem with my four-man parties where everything just felt really slow. That might be excessive, but it's also really fun. Assuming you leave Act 1 at level 8, you can have 5 (10) Warfare or Summoning or whatever your main skill is and dip into 4 other trees if you really want. You get them earlier, which is huge, and you don't really have to give up a big part of your progression just to get them. You're meant to find synergies and make use of them, and it's just a lot easier and feels a lot better on Lone Wolf. Some people might call that overpowered, but I also think it's how the game is supposed to be played? Apply that to every 'dip' you want to do into other classes and suddenly Lone Wolf has the HUGE advantage of being able to snatch up a lot of buffs and movement skills at very little cost. The difference in sacrificing 2 levels into Aerothurge for Teleport and 1 level is huge. Second is the rate of progression and how good it 'feels' to play a Lone Wolf. Part of it is that there's only 3 'main stats', so no matter what at least two characters in your party is going to be competing for gear. I usually had and have 1 - 2 people in my party that are the 'crappy gear guys' who get the hand me downs from my actually good party members, and that's not a good feeling. ![]() I was always on the fence with that level of micro-management even in older and more recent cRPGs alike. But I also think that a Lone Wolf 2-person playthrough is more fun for other reasons.įor me, at least, not having to worry about four characters' gear is a huge boon. Part of that is the fact they scale into infinity, that's definitely true, and it's hilarious and fun to see an archer one-shotting everything. I've been thinking on it, and I really enjoyed my Lone Wolf playthroughs (2 of them) more than my normal 4 person playthroughs (also 2 of them) so far.
